Until he is properly laid to rest … this journey of nearly 40 years of his music ministry continues.
The “Symbol” is iconic, because there is so much in it.
There is the Imbalanced Asymmetry, the “men are from mars, women are from venus” deep sexology, the fact that he played 20 different instruments (wind, percussion, and definitely string), and the cross for the Almighty God that he believed in and held close to every day of his waking life.
Prince could turn out songs and music like it was nobody’s business and he was not a “one-genre” musician. He did it all: Rock, rock-n-roll, punk, funk, r&b, hymns and spirituals, blues, jazz, classical, rap … nothing got past him when it came to music, he embraced it all and showed the world that there is no one right way to be a human being in this life.
With God, all things are possible … and he knew it and didn’t even try to run from the fact that he was a very sexual being created by God to be exactly who he was and where he was when he was there. He understood, and he helped me to understand too.
He used his talents. His gift. If more people were like him, this world would be a beautiful place in which to live once again.
So excuse me for mourning the loss of a man I came close to meeting once in my life … he embraced life at a time when I was losing mine; and I leaned in and used his music and his rebellious nature to help me stay closer to sane in a world that was losing its grip on righteousness and the love of beauty and originality that I grew up with.
If someone dast to call him an “anti-christ,” he made a song out of it and ridiculed them by making millions off everything they tried to make him out to be. ‪#‎AnnieChristianAnnieChrist‬ …
As he said “I may be small, but so is dynamite.” He suffered with epilepsy as a child, and when he told his mother he wasn’t going to be sick any more, she asked him how he knew that. He said “An angel told me.”
He also said he was glad his father pushed him to excel in his music, even though it was shaded with a form of abusiveness. Had he not done that, Prince’s work would have been slovenly and he admitted as much. Glad to say that “not good enough” for his dad became world-renowned excellence.
This symbol is a teardrop falling from his eye. He cared for this world and everyone in it and expressed it through his multitude of talents.
You are now officially an Ancestor and as such, we know that God is the Ultimate Artist of all time, for He created YOU. That’s why you never referred to your princeliness as “King.” You knew who the King of Kings was, so … Rest in Complete Power, Prince Rogers Nelson.
If you do not believe in God because you can’t physically “see” Him, look at the world around you. There is evidence of His existence in everything we do and see, hear and feel, and think — even when we think He doesn’t exist, He grants us the right to believe anything we want to believe … and then proceeds to prove us wrong.
