What’s in a name?
It’s great to be back UI after a long hiatus from all social media. My posts may make you mad, but hopefully cause a real discussion on the subject. The next part of my calculated meal that I have been feeding you has to do with ethnic, and made up names. I know...
The Origins of the Crucifix
The image above will undoubtedly enrage some Black Christians, well, at least those who don't know their own history. Those who don't know that Jesus was a threat to the status quo of his day and was persecuted just like any African American in this nation. Jesus was...
Why Public Schools are the heart of our community
African Americans and the education system in this country have a history that is so intertwined that it can be said that we gave birth to the public school. In the post 1865 "Radical Reconstruction" era, newly freed African Americans had no place to go; they were...
Black Women Must Do Better By One Another
At least once a day, I hear someone mention that the black community needs to be able to stick together if we are going to manage problems that exist within our community. I could not agree more, but a sense of community goes beyond spending money with black...

Cornel West has joined his radio cohost Tavis Smiley in blasting the POTUS in the wake of his Trayvon Martin speech last Friday. Speaking with Democracy Now, West called President Obama “a global George Zimmerman” for his use of deadly drone attacks overseas. From the...
What Next?
So as I watch the protest and the marches which seem to be becoming more and more about getting George Zimmerman and less and less about address the series of circumstances that cause and allowed this tragedy to take place to begin with. I am forced to ask myself...

Why Aren’t We Moving
I wasn’t even going to write this but in light of the recent events surrounding Florida I feel that it is necessary for us to critically look at some of the intricacies of the black civil rights movement in America. Something has been lost in this fight, we continue...
Senator Calls for an End to Mandatory Education? What?
Taking away mandatory education in urban communities would put our children at a serious disadvantage. Parents if you don't wake up and start paying attention to your child's schooling and the laws politicians are trying to implement within your districts your...

All the motivation we’ll EVER need now…..
OK, so if you’re like me, you are now heartbroken and outraged at what happened in America on Saturday, July 14, 2013. Starting back in February of last year, A man named George Zimmerman, who was not a police officer – yet wanted to assert his authority like one –...
White Washed
What if slavery as we now know it was removed from the history books? What would you say if your child was being taught that not only was slavery good for the nation, but good for the slaves as well? What would you say if your child came home and said that the...
Reflections On The George Zimmerman Trial
"Zimmerman being found guilty will change NOTHING" These were the words I was met with upon turning on my laptop and booting up Facebook. It was the top post on my news feed from a good friend of mine. I instantly had the urge to comment, but why, to say what,...

Money… It truly makes the world go round. Not just for the acquisition of trinkets, but with general morality as well. The Americans before us used to mach, hold protests, and riot in the streets to get their points across. However did any of this truly make a...
Riots Anticipated Should Zimmerman Receive A Not Guilty Verdict
I have been following the Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman tragedy from it's inception, like millions of other people. I, too was infuriated when the bureaucracy in Sanford, Florida, had every intention of letting Zimmerman go free without being charged or even...

TALKING LOUD AND SAYING NOTHING!
My brothers & sisters I'm loving that so many want to move forward and get results. However I've seen actions of those who remind me of what James use to say "TALKING LOUD AND SAYING NOTHING". If you have a belief or faith no matter if it be God or Allah continue...
