Lafayette High School in Lafayette, Alabama is on the list of failing schools.
Despite the status of the school Tytianna Smith emerges as a shining star. She applied to 50 colleges and was accepted by 49!
Along with receiving $1.7 million in scholarships from every college she applied to she is also active at her high school. Though the school has no band coach, Tytianna served as the band’s Co-Drum Major and helped to prepare the band to perform at five games. She wanted to inspire other students at her school.
“I attend a high school that is currently on the failing school list…I wanted to show that just because we attend a failing school we are not failing students…I wanted to lift the standard,” Tytianna stated.
Tytianna will be attending HBCU Norfolk University, Virginia!

BEHOLD THE GREEN AND GOLD!!!!
I would love to share this article except there’s a typo in the title.
Good eye. I noticed it to.
Ummmm. That would be “too”. Share this young ladies great achievement.
Share it anyway! It still makes the point of when you want something and work hard for it, you can accomplish…
UI has a volunteer staff and employs no editors to correct the work submitted by others.
However, I corrected the spelling because we kept getting a lot of comments about it on the back end,
even though it’s an older article. Glad it’s here to be read!
This is awesome !!! You go girl
Congrats sweet girl, show them all how it’s done
Can you check the spelling of “Accepted” in the heading pleade?
DITTO to the author Candice.
*please
Great article …. looking beyond the typo.
This comment is meant to be helpful. I LOVE the article, but for the writer and for this website. You guys can get the free app called Grammarly which will fix small typos by underlining them in red, and providing a correction. It helps me catch these small errors. It’s free. Grammarly is the name of the app.
Grammarly is limited unless you buy the Full edition and someone still has to keep an eye on things even if the free app is installed for sitewide usage. We don’t have a paid staff of editors, but thanks for the suggestion. Keep it coming!
I have an up and coming scholar… How would I contact this school? I would love for my son to talk to this young lady or her guidance counselor.
Another capable mind headed the wrong direction. ?
Being like your Massa is not goal, it’s a trap. Especially considering nothing man beings got going on is intelligent. This is likely being the smartest dummy.
