Following a controversy over a surfaced video where Milo Yiannopoulos appears to defend pedophilia his world seems to be crumbling.
First the alt-right poster boy has Conservative Political Action Conference invite retracted. He was slated to speak at the event. And now, his book deal has been withdrawn with the published saying via Twitter:
Statement: After careful consideration @simonschuster and its @threshold_books have cancelled publication of Dangerous by Milo Yiannopoulos
— (((Adam Rothberg))) (@AdamRothberg) February 20, 2017
In the video Yiannopoulos seems to be arguing that some young teen boys are old enough to consent to sexual relationships with adults. He also insisted adults who have sex with underage teens are not pedophiles and said he wouldn’t give names of Hollywood child abusers that he met at parties.
However in a tepid apology he blames editing to take his comments out of context!
Writing to Facebook he said:
“I am a gay man, and a child abuse victim,”
“I would like to restate my utter disgust at adults who sexually abuse minors. I am horrified by pedophilia and I have devoted large portions of my career as a journalist to exposing child abusers … I’ve repeatedly expressed disgust at pedophilia in my feature and opinion writing. My professional record is very clear.”
“But I do understand that these videos, even though some of them are edited deceptively, paint a different picture,”
“My own experiences as a victim led me to believe I could say anything I wanted to on this subject, no matter how outrageous,” he wrote in a separate Facebook post. “But I understand that my usual blend of British sarcasm, provocation and gallows humor might have come across as flippancy, a lack of care for other victims or, worse, ‘advocacy.’ I deeply regret that.”
Yiannopoulos has been a poster-child of hate in the form of his so-called ALT-Right views, so is likely to gain little mainstream sympathy. He has repeatedly pushed racist, sexist, mysogonistic and sometimes homophobic views according to many and some say he has used that fact that he is gay as an excuse for him to make such statements.
In this tepid apology he seems to be trying to use the fact that he may have been sexually abused as an excuse for saying what he said.
It was only a matter of time before his world crumbled. Even many at Breitbart are calling for his removal!
Here is the video in which he is said to “defend adults having sex with 14 year olds, 30 year olds being attracted to 15 year olds, as well as not giving up the names of Hollywood child abusers he met during parties.”
