Following Chance historic win this year at the Grammy Awards, Chance the Rapper grab the attention of many record labels but this is nothing new for Chance. He has always made it clear that he has no interest in being signed to a record label. So we shouldn’t be surprised to hear that he has yet again turned down offers of up to $10 million dollars.
Chance the Rapper is serious about remaining an independent artist and in all honesty why wouldn’t he? He has broken and set records all by his lonesome, at this point what can a record label do but throw money at him.
Despite being unsigned, Chance’s streaming-only album Coloring Book won Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, and Best New Artist this year at the Grammys. “He may do something with Apple, but not a label per se,” a source added. “He is going to remain independent.”
Chance knows what he has to do to make money and is not looking for toward a label to create any extra income. “And I honestly believe if you put effort into something and you execute properly, you don’t necessarily have to go through the traditional ways,” Chance said in an interview with Vanity Fair.
We should all be proud of Chance and is will power and foresight. Think about the TLC and New Edition biopics and how the record labels screwed them out of millions. Chance don’t do it, you can clearly do it all on your own.
