POTUS Obama Defends #BlackLivesMatter: “The African American community is not just making this up.”

President Obama may not address black issues like many of us want him to all the time, but he does stand up and speak up on these issues. Recently, he took a moment to address the #BlackLivesMatter movement and it is something we believe you need to see.

POTUS is currently on a speaking tour addressing many of the issues in the United States, criminal justice reform is one at the top of the list. This is an area where black people and minorities of color have historically been mistreated, therefore, it is an important issue to us moving forward.

Obama-Hand 600x315While addressing and discussing better policing policies and sentencing laws, POTUS was asked about the Black Lives Matter movement and here is what he had to say:

“…Theres a specific problem that’s happening in the African American community that’s not happening in other communities and thats a legitimate issue that we’ve got to addressed…We as a society, particularly given our history have to take this seriously…”

Obama’s comments were important because they didn’t dismiss the movement as some off based, black winged organization planning to overthrow the government or minimize the effort in the least bit. He is telling America this is real and not made up….and something that we must address if the country is ever going to be able to live up to the high values and rhetoric it spews around the world.

Take a listen to the President in this video and give us your feedback.
