#BlackGirlMagic: First Black Woman Comic Shop Owner Lands Marvel Cover With New Black Iron Man (Who Is A Girl Genius!)

by | Oct 28, 2016 | News | 0 comments

Ariell Johnson made history in January. She became the first black female owner of a comic book store on the East Coast and the first black woman to own a comic book shop!

Now, she is being recognised by Marvel and has been given a beautiful interpretation of herself on Marvel’s new Iron Man comic.

On the variant cover Ariell is seen having coffee with fictional RiRi Williams, who actually happens to be the new Iron Man (DID YOU KNOW? Marvel’s New Iron Man Is A Genius Black Girl!) after Tony Stark hung up the suit!

Ariell’s store Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse in Philly promotes diversity and inclusion in Geek culture and thanks to work by her and people like her things are seriously changing.
