Opposing Views dot com opens up a news story on June 29 with an angle that almost makes self-righteous people who believe in the industry of having a “true” work ethic cringe.
Keep in mind that, for them, a “true” work ethic means that household work and raising children alone does NOT count as REAL work (right).
The article is titled and I quote ‘It Doesn’t Make Sense’: Single Mom Receiving $50,000 A Year From Welfare Explains Why She Doesn’t Work (Video).’
First and foremost, raise your lying@ hand if you know of ANY Black woman on welfare in AMERICA who gets $50,000 a year from it. The woman lives in Australia, but she still makes a valid point that applies to American industry as well.
When I saw the Opposing Views article on Alex Girle, all I remember thinking is “Well, I’ll be. It took a white woman on welfare to say what Black women on welfare have been saying since it became legal [IN AMERICA] to treat poor Blacks the same way poor whites had been treated for years.”
Being that welfare in America is an outgrowth of slave capitalism that derived from overseers losing jobs on plantations, (i.e., welfare was made FOR WHITE PEOPLE in the first place), and whose radical reconstruction-era displaced workers had no more work available in the only area they had been trained for, it is highly comprehensible that a white woman would come forth NOW and tell the rest of the world at-large how she feels about not working, simply because welfare is more lucrative, so she says.
Simply put, Girle says “It doesn’t make sense to go out and get a job,” especially since she has five children (that’s a little more than $10k a year per child, mind you), and lives with four of them.
Yeah, what an American woman of any race living on welfare could do with a grand a week would make a billionaire’s head explode. And to top that off, Black women tend to be able to pull off manifold “miracles” on much less than that … miracles that, at the time, don’t seem possible or economically feasible when they do it. They do what has to be done with what they have available. Indeed, how to squeeze a dollar out of 15-cents…
Now, let’s take for granted that this Australian white female is not a “plant” just to put a white face cover on welfare and sell the public a lie: Then, all we can say is … Hell who doesn’t know the answer to that – and hasn’t been knowing it for many many years now. America is no different, except when it comes to “jewing down the public,” they’re all in, with pickle relish, mustard, catsup, and mayo.
Australia is a place where people who work MINIMUM WAGE JOBS make far more than Americans, and their people who do get social insurance get three times as much money and where housing and the cost of living is lower — and surprise / surprise, Australia, unlike capitalistic Greece, isn’t sinking LIKE THE TITANIC.
The investment in the people PAYS HUGE DIVIDENDS.
In her country, Girle-Girle COULD work -if she wanted to- and do just fine, especially in that low-rent district housing in which she lives.
A job and its hourly salary has to include not only the money it takes to get, keep, and maintain THE JOB, but the money it takes to take care of the FAMILY, and the humane and just right for that family to be able to take at LEAST one family vacation a year.
Nowadays, with the cost of living (COLA) 9-points spread apart from the average wages of a disempowered “working slave”, $50k a year in income isn’t squat any more, especially if there are no mostly-paid medical benefits to subsidize it.
But let’s take it under advisement for the moment that “that’s a lot of welfare cheese” she’s spreading around, at a grand a WEEK. A LOT OF MONEY FOR A WELFARE RECIPIENT, let’s make that abundantly clear.
She’s right, you know: A “job” not only COSTS MONEY, but it takes astronomical amounts of time away from children who will likely end up in the streets, latchkey and more, doing “God only knows what,” and only because they’ve only got one parent who is nearly never home and always working, and who doesn’t have time for them even if she (or he) is home.
Welfare was derived to supplement working people at taxpayers’ expense, and also for those who can’t find work, and for those who can’t work and never will because they are too sick or feeble to do so.
Corporations bump the risk of allegedly “going out of business” by having taxpayers to pick up the tab for these low-waged workers. It saves them money that they obviously aren’t spending in the first place, keeps them from paying taxes on the profits, then they take the rest of the jobs that are out there and ship them off to the prisons systems and out of the country where slave labor has to work for the low-low (often something like .20-cents an hour) or for nothing at all. They say they are teaching the prisoners/incarcerated persons “valuable work and job skills,” but apparently for jobs they will NEVER be able to get on the outside. Why? Because the people IN prison are doing them FOR FREE.
The only way for them to keep those prison jobs working out is to KEEP PUTTING people in, whether they’ve done anything wrong or not. Mysteriously enough, by some fluke of the racially-damned, Black people end up being the brunt of that bullshit philosophy and suffering from it the most.
They want to talk about social “entitlements,” but the same ones who scream about lazy people who just want “entitlements” and free stuff (i.e., NOTHING’S free) are the same ones who feel they are ENTITLED TO CHEAP or FREE LABOR.
In a nutshell, no job in this country is worth leaving your family in a ditch trying to get to it.
Jobs cost so much money these days, in terms of clothing, transportation, hygiene items, water, power, heat, daycare/pre-school, children’s clothing, risk and liability, food, et al, that most of them are not worth getting out of bed for if you’re not going to make enough or only making just enough to KEEP THE JOB.
If the job isn’t paying, then you’re paying out of pocket and at a deficit FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF HAVING A JOB. In the meantime, those who enjoy big bank and luxury vacations at YOUR expense will tell you that “hard work” and industriousness and resourcefulness and INDIVIDUALITY will get you there “one day.”
Number One: Them same lazy scrubs who talk about “hard work” likely have not worked a hard day in their lives because they inherited slave capital wealth and resources and can pay others to do all their work for them, whether they pay for it or not. Number Two: Nobody has ever made it anywhere in this life without a COMMUNITY and familial support to help them get there. When it comes to building a nation, nobody gets there being an ‘individual who does it all alone’. There are very few “self-made” anybodies in this world as it stands.
Industry is not industry any more, not purposeful industry that builds families and greater communities and better nations. All it is is getting out of bed in the mornings to go work for someone who has barely had to lift one side of their big fat satin fannies off a chair, probably in their entire lives — and nobody’s talking about Paris Hilton. This time.
I don’t blame Girle. At all. Even if she’s lying, she can’t be blamed for telling the greater truth that is mixed in with the big fat lie.
Just an FYI, though: Had this same logical and sensible reasoning come from the mouth of a Black woman in the EXACT SAME POSITION as Girle, this news story would have been spun an entirely different way. This we know.
Ronald Wilson Reagan’s 1980s “welfare queen” BS did a magnanimous head job on a lot of people, not the least of which were the Republicans themselves.
The Aussie mom has now set up a GoFundMe account in order to get even more free money out of people around the world, including the taxpayers in her own country, in order to start a printing and signage business. Now comes the “moment of truth” and the piece de la resistance: All women on welfare in America could stand to learn from her, whether they are on working-welfare or not.
While getting free money to start a home-based business with a crowdfunding account, on top of the welfare check that you and your children currently subsist off of — it may not take as long to discover that anyone who can’t pay you properly doesn’t deserve to have you working for them anyway.
Wasn’t it House of Cards’ “Frank Underwood” character that said “Never work anywhere that you’re not willing to get fired from.”
