“If you keep acting like a child, you’re going to get strapped in that chair and you’re going to stay there,”
Frankie Taylor, an African American man from Michigan, was picked up by police and arrested for a DUI. The police are accused of overacting and their actions, that led to Frankie being blinded in one eye, were caught on tape.
He says that he was strapped to a chair with threats of being tased. Another officer in the video is putting on gloves and they beat Taylor until he is unconsious. They kept yelling stop resisting at each blow.
James Rasor, Tauylor’s attorney says no medical attention was given, just a transferral to Macomb County Jail the next day.
By the time he got to hospital the vision in his eye was lost.
Rasor also said that a phone call was not allowed:
“You want to protect people from this type of brutality by police forces,” said Rasor. “White folks were allowed to use the phone by police officers; even one who had urinated in his pants was allowed to use the phone.
Frankie Taylor wasn’t, and the only difference is that Frankie Taylor happens to be African-American.
