WTF: Walmart Takes Down Black Lives Matter Shirt After The Police Complain (Yet Many Blue Lives Shirts Remain)

by | Dec 24, 2016 | News | 0 comments

Walmart seems pretty indiscriminate against who it sells to, it just wants to make as much money as possible. However, due to complaints by police no less, it has recently taken steps to remove one of the shirt designs available through it’s website. A Black Lives Matter shirt!

Now, just to be clear, there are still some black lives matter shirts available. This shirt in particular featured the words BULLETPROOF with Black Lives Matter in smaller text beneath.

A complaint was made to the retail giant by the Fraternal Order of Police, who called the shirts offensive. So Walmart complied and took them down.

In a statement they said that their online marketplace is stocked with millions of items. These items are offered by third parties and do include Blue Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter and All Lives Matter merchandise.

Doing a search for Black Lives Matter, the first two items are actually for Blue Lives Matter (which is a bit messed up) and only one of the top 5 is a BLM shirt despite there being more than 5 on offer throughout their inventory.

One of the top Blue Lives shirts depicts the black lives power fist, which has long been a symbol of the black community, overlaid with a police badge. Surely this shirt is worse?

Luckily the shirt can still be found on Amazon here.
