John Boyega is playing a major role in the anticpated new Star Wars movie. While some absolute idiots caused some issue about him being black, in what has largely been a white led franchise until now, the majority of people are just plain looking forward to watching this fine actor bring back the franchise.

However a poster just released for the Chinese market has brought the issue of race center fold again as Boyega and other non-white actors have been given less promiinence or taken off completely.

Luke Skywalker has always been missing from the US / UK version of the poster but the other expected prominent characters were proudly displayed with Boyega being one of the biggest faces.

Now the Chinese poster sees the merchandise pushing BB8 robot in a much larger way but Boyega is shrunk and stuffed awkwardly under Hans and Leia.

Then to add insult to injury other non-white actors such as Oscar Isaac (playing rebel pilot Poe Dameron) Lupita Nyong’o (playing pirate Maz Kanata) and Chewbacca have been cut out altogether. Who knew Chewbacca would ever be part of race controversy!!!

It’s unknown if the changes were a US or China side decision but hopefully we’ll get some official comment soon.
