So, before we delve deep into a claim the O.J. may be up for confessing to the murder of his ex-wife and her friend we need to look at where this information has come from.
A few months ago it emerged that a longterm friend of O.J. was making claims.
The old friend is Ron Shipp, a former police officer who testified in the original 1995 double-murder trial.
He said he has been a friend of O.J. for 26 years and that O.J. is wracked with guilt, full of demons and that he believes that a confession will eventually come out, putting an end to the rumours, conspiracies and more.
Back in June, at the Los Angeles premiere of ESPN’s “O.
J. Simpson: Made in America” docu-series, Shipp said “The guy is in total torment today,” and that “Someone told me he is 300 pounds and he looks horrible. O.J. has always felt his appearance meant everything and now, deep down inside, he is starting to live with himself.”
Shipp says that once out of jail (O.J. is in for unrelated armed robbery charges), which may be next year, the truth will come out and said:
“I hope one day he actually will rid us of all the doubt and all the conspiracy theories and say ‘sorry I cannot go to prison (because of double jeopardy laws), but I am sorry I did it,”
Despite mixed feelings Shipp said, regarding his feelings at the time of the murder, “I didn’t really see him at the time doing that because of my love for him. I didn’t want to believe the things I saw.”, but during the trial he did say that O.J. had told him he had dreamt of killing his ex-wife.
Now, we have to scrutinise this claim a little….
First off, it came at a promo event, perfect timing to create more buzz around the docu. Secondly, at the time of Shipp’s 1995 testimony, O.J.’s lawyers made an implication that Shipp was just trying to gain notoriety.
Basically, O.J.’s may never speak of this again and Shipp may just be trying to make himself famous, or have been paid to create buzz. Or maybe every word he speaks is true!
What do you think?
