WORD: Kofi Siriboe Responds To White Woman Who Slammed His Celebration Of Black Women!

by | Feb 10, 2017 | Celebrities, News, Positivity | 2 comments

Kofi Siriboe, of Queen Sugar fame, expressed his love for his mother, his appreciation for all black women! However, one white woman was upset at his remarks! She corned out his use of the word ‘black’ and said he should have celebrated all mothers of all races!

This was after he wrote: “my beautiful mother is every reason i need to cherish, love, and protect my sisters. nobody will ride for you like a black woman. period.”

Well…. He had a response to that!

I can’t count the number of awards and publications that single out white women to praise on a daily basis with no rebuttals from black women. Instead of complaining, my job is to do the same for my mother and sistas, specifically and unapologetically. Just because an award show isn’t called the White Entertainment Awards, it doesn’t mean that’s not what it is. A few sprinkles of Black entertainers isn’t satisfactory and quite frankly, it’s disrespectful. America’s past will tell you what my black skin has meant to them. America’s present will tell you what my black skin still means to them. Therefore, it’s not my responsibility to celebrate and praise that same black skin. And, yes, it’s a very conscious and deliberate effort. I shouldn’t have to think twice when it comes to uplifting my black women. The same way no other race thinks twice when it comes to celebrating theirs.

WORD TO THAT!

Thank You for speaking up, for contributing your own personal badge of honor for your very own. Thank You for loving your skin out of our own with the generations before you. Thank for speaking up as representative of your own. Thank you for using your platform to let it be known that there are black men who do not conform to ways of Hollywood or any other media or social sites only get a pass for themselves. Thank You for being true to your roots and for being an example to men such as yourself-not only those in Hollywood but to all black men no matter their “status” of their life. I applaud you and praise young King.
