WORD: African-American Buying Power Had Risen Well Over $1 TRILLION (SO, Let’s USE IT!)

Do you even know how many zeros are in a trillion? Well, off hand, I did not! A trillion dollars is $1,000,000,000,000, that’s 12 zeros, 13 numbers! And guess what, African-American buying power is now over that amount according to a new study.

Those 12 zeros carry a LOT of power and maybe it’s about time the community really start to make use of them?

The African-Americans: Demographic and Consumer Spending Trends, 10th Edition has said that African American buying power is now $1.3 trillion, that’s up from $995 billion in 2010, a rise of 27%. They also say that a further 16% rise is predicted in the coming five years.

The Grio reported:

African-American families in higher income brackets have been increasing as well, with the number of households with an income of $100,000 or more jumping from 83 percent, from 1.1 million to around two million in the time period between 2005 and 2014. In that same period, African-American households with incomes between $75,000 and $100,000 increased by 25 percent.

Another indicator that African-Americans are doing better is that they are spending more money on things like eating out. The percentage of income spent on dining out was 14 percent higher than in 2012, according to the report. Purchases for non-essentials such as apparel and beauty products also increased.

Isn’t it time to make change with this power, move forward and buy black, bank black (find your local blank bank here) and push to move money away from businesses that have racist practises.
