Wendell Pierce is more than an actor. While he is damn good at his craft his role as an outspoken voice of the black community and his help in the community are no lesser roles.

The man blossomed in the New Orleans neighborhood of Gentilly Heights. Like much of the city it was devastated by Katrina.

As a man with means Wendell didn’t sit on his ass and wait for someone to come and rebuild his broken community for him!

He went to his community and invested himself with his time, his personal money and raising funds, and he invested his art.
