Why It Is Time For Black Economic Boycotts & Unity Beyond Ferguson

by | Aug 23, 2014 | Culture | 0 comments

Black people all around the country are mad, frustrated and outraged over the routine killing of unarmed, black men around this country and the regular police brutality we experience as well as a community.

But the time has come to stop ONLY marching and protesting. The time has come we put our money where our mouth is. This is a drum the Urban Intellectual family has been beating for some time now.

ce IS pbIt is time to use our community economics for the true power it is. We have over $1 TRILLION dollars in annual spending power. If we were only to use it in a positive, unified manner, we can bring this country to their knees and they will have to beg us to do business with them.

No one is telling you don’t spend any money anywhere, but we need to be strategic about where you spend your money. Ideally, if you spend just 50% of your money with black businesses in the community, that will diver over $500 billion dollars away from their communities and into ours. Just think of the positive things we can do with that sort of money circulating in our community.

But we can’t just stop there. As the brothers emphasis in the video below, just imagine if the churches take your tithes and instead of putting in white owned banks that won’t give you loans for the businesses and enterprise you are trying to do in the community, they put it into our own banks so we can fund our own campaigns, businesses and endeavors?

Powerful! Listen to these brothers speak on economic unity in the black community!
