Why Is President Obama Against Reparations For African Americans Who Endured Slavery & Jim Crow?

by | Jul 11, 2015 | Opinion | 0 comments

Within the last calendar year, President Barack Obama has made some bold moves for the black community. After nearly 6 years of ignoring black issues in this country, he has shown the disenfranchised black community we are on his radar.

However, POTUS has yet to make a move in the direction of reparations, an apology that might lead to such things on behalf of the country, or even speaking on it recently since saying he is against them.

….WAIT, WHAT? Obama is against reparations for African Americans?

That’s right! Obama has consistently said he doesn’t like the idea of reparations. Instead, he argues the government should fight the legacy of slavery, Jim Crow and worse by improving schools, health care and the economy for all Americans.

“I have said in the past – and I’ll repeat again – that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed,” he said.

Let’s keep this quote in context. It was said back in 2008 when candidate Obama was running for the office of the Presidency and may have been put out there just to ensure he had a legit chance at running for office……however, now that he is in the lame duck session of his Presidency, could he have changed his mind?

Personally, I can’t understand the illogical thought process that says African Americans are not due reparations for the centuries of wrong doing they have endured at the hands of this country and it’s people. It is down right shameful.

SOUND OFF: What do you think of President Obama’s stance opposing reparations for African Americans? And do you think he feels differently today?
