White Pastor Takes His Black Son to See a PG-13 Movie and Is Denied Entry

Reuben Lee was raised in the South and knows racism exist, he just never imagined his adopted son would have to experience it. However, what happened to him and his 17-year old son left him in deep shock.

Lee is a pastor at a church in the Stockton community. Therefore given who he is a person, his experience at the Regal Theater with his son was surprising.  Lee took his son and a few of his friends to watch XXX: Return of Xander Cage at the Regal Theater located on the West Lane, only for the manager to stop them. He tried to explain to the manager that he was the guardian of the young man but the manager did not believe him.

The manager didn’t believe him because Pastor Lee is white and his adopted son is black. According to Lee, the manager did not trust that he was Reuben Jr.’s guardian. He added that he was the only Caucasian in this group.

His son is 17 and was denied access to a PG-13 movie because he is black. This experience was so disheartening for Pastor Lee.

On the theaters website there are no stipulation regarding PG-13 movies only rated R and NC-17 movies. But to add insult to injury the manager had them escorted off the property by an armed guard.

If you are black and from Stockton, California please do not patronize this movie theatre. Spend your money where you are appreciated and not just tolerated.
