Cam Newton isn’t winning over African American fans with a round of recent acts.
A few weeks ago he claimed that racism is no longer an issue in America and then during an ESPN interview he said that he neither agrees or disagrees with Colin Kaepernick’s recent protest.
Sports journalist Stephen A. Smith decided it was high time that Cam gets a history lesson. He laid it out straight on September 1st during ESPN’s “First Take,”.
He started the show giving a rundown of the injustices Black people have had to face, for the benefit of Cam.
He said
“He knows what racism is, … You gon’ dance around it like you have nothing to say.”
And went onto say
“What I saw was a superstar athlete who is the reigning league MVP who stars in the NFL right now for the Carolina Panthers, thinking about his brand. And is that new to us? We’ve got guys that are millionaires, 10, 20, 50, 100 times over, scared to take a position.
”
Harsh words.
