Former President George W. Bush sat down for an interview with People magazine about a new book of his paintings but it didn’t take long before it got political!
Bush has generally stayed away from political talk since he left office but it seems that Trump’s antics are pushing him to slip a few choice words that reflect some of his inner opinions.
Trump has often claimed he’s the “least racist person,” but Bush doesn’t seem to think so, telling People:
“I don’t like the racism and I don’t like the name-calling and I don’t like the people feeling alienated,”
“Nobody likes that.”
Although not directly attacking Trump Bush also said that the Bush Center involves itself in many initiatives such as pro-immigration programs and leadership training for Muslim women.
He told the mag:
“There’s a lot of ways to speak out,”
“but it’s really through actions defending the values important to [my wife Laura] and me. … We’re a blessed nation, and we ought to help others.”
Earlier he had also told NBC’s Today show:
“I am for an immigration policy that is welcoming and upholds the law,”
What do you think of Bush’s comments? Does it make you want to buy one of his painting books a little more?…. Nah, didn’t think so!
