Minnesota Vikings’ star running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted for reckless or negligent injury to a child in Houston, Texas. According to TMZ, Child Protective Services confirmed they are working on a case related to Peterson and an 11-year-old boy.
Peterson missed team practice on Thursday, for veteran’s day of rest, and it is unclear on whether he will be available to play Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.
A couple hours ago, Peterson took to Twitter to let his fans know that “God has you covered” and not to stress or worry. It’s unknown whether or not the tweet was related to the charges.
The alleged child is Peterson’s son, and the Montgomery County District Attorney says they can’t comment until Peterson is in custody. It appears that the charges stem from Peterson disciplining his son with a “switch”. The investigation has been going on for a while, and Peterson testified for a grand jury weeks ago.
Fans reactions on social media has been mixed, and of course, stirring up debates about whether or not spanking and other corporal punishment is right or wrong, and if it’s a matter of the law.

What are your thoughts on spanking? How many of you got the “switch” as a child? Do you consider it child abuse?
Update: 7:16pm EST The Minnesota Vikings have announced that Adrian Peterson has been deactivated.
