Veteran Journalist Gwen Ifill Passes Away at the Age of 61

Gwen Ifill, one of the most prominent African-American journalists in the country, has died at the age of 61.

Her death is surprise to most of us, especially since she just moderated the debate between Democratic presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Ifill is the first woman of color to moderate a presidential debate since Carole Simpson in 1992. She also moderated two vice presidential debates in 2004 and 2008.

Her legacy will go down in history. Ifill was the host of PBS’ Washington Week, a best-selling author, form host of PBS NewsHour, the White House correspondent for The New York Times and so much more.

Ifill lost her battle with cancer.
