Valerie Thomas, a famous inventor, paved the way it invention for not only for black women of her time but for all women of her time. Thomas worked for NASA between 1964 and 1995 creating and developing real-time computer data systems.
In 1977, Thomas had begun developing and experimenting her illusion transmitter and in 1980, ended up patenting her idea. NASA was so impressed with her invention that her technology is still used in their work today.
The hope is to see Thomas work expand into surgical tools, TV, and video.
In the 1940s, Valerie Thomas had attended a school for girls only.
Unfortunately the school did not offer math or science in which she was very interested in, so she took matters into her own hands and studied on the side.
Thanks to her technology we now have the 3-D TV. Through her studies and hard work, not only did she become a well known woman of NASA but helped inspire the movie “Hidden Figures”.
