Just a few months ago track star Allyson Felix says she couldn’t walk, now she is at Rio preparing for the 400-meter race on August 13th!

She had a really testing year with a recent ankle injury throwing her Rio appearance into doubt, personal challenges and more but she says she made it through thanks to many strong black women!

The six-time olympic medal winner was quoted saying:

“I think as a black female, our value seems to be so much less than our [male] counterpart so that’s always something that we’re aware of and you try to change [that] for the next generation”…“I think that it’s amazing that there are so many strong black athletes that are out there, like Serena Williams, who are doing such amazing things and breaking barriers and breaking people’s thoughts of what I should be. So for me, I definitely try to focus on a positive image and change for the next generation.”

She also put praise to her 97-year-old grandma and it must be noted she warms up pre-race to Beyonce’s Diva!

We are cheering for her!
