Tougaloo College (Mississippi) will become the first HBCU to offer classes on the topic of modern day slavery. Recently, the college announced it has been awarded a $550,000 grant to expand to curriculum began studying modern day slavery, human trafficking, child labor and forced labor. The program will require research and students will be have the opportunity to get participate in direct action projects.
“We will have research by students and faculty, and we will also have community engagement where we will work with existing organizations that are already addressing this issue on many different levels,” says Tougaloo College President Beverly Wade Hogan.
Students will actually have an opportunity to take part in resolving real life issues involving modern day slavery.
As the 35 million descendants of those who endured the worst crime in human history, and where kidnapped to this nation soaked with the blood of the Red Man, we as Africans in America , should all be concerned about this and acting on it ! Every leader and so called leader, every organization and ad hoc committee, and every member of the Black Caucus, should be demanding the African Union put an end to the enslavement and exportation of our families , there and to the Arab Emirates
