Tiger Woods (born Eldrick Tont Woods) has been dubbed the 11th richest athlete of all time. Woods began his professional career in 1996 at the age of 20. He won his first major in April 1997, the 1997 Masters, his performance was legendary, he triumphed by 12 strokes and took home $486,000. In June of the same year, Woods was ranked number one in the world. Tiger Woods net worth is estimated at $700 million and he has made an estimated $1.4 billion during his 20 year career.

Tiger Woods has several accolades to his name including the youngest man to win the United States Masters, the first African American to win the Masters and has been awarded the PGA player of the year 10 times. Woods began to play golf at the age of 8, and was trained by his father. His golfing skills were so apparent at such a young age that his talent was displayed on This Morning America. He attended Stanford University and won several amateur golf titles prior to beginning his professional career in 1996.

In 2006 Woods endured a tremendous personal tragedy after his father lost his battle with prostate cancer. Despite his loss, Woods returned to the game and took the title at the British Open and the PGA Championship.

The following season was marked by several triumphs both professionally and personally. His wife gave birth to their first child, Sam Alexis Woods. He later won the PGA Championship and the World Golf Championship.

After a 466 day absence from the game, Woods made a comeback at the Hero World Challenge in 2016. He is set to resume a normal schedule in 2017.
