Texas Pastor Bans Hair Weaves From His Church, But Why Could Make You Agree

Everyone knows many black women love their unatural weave added to their hair. So much so, they spend billions upon billions on this hair accessory each and every year in this country and much more around the world. Many don’t have a problem with this, but one pastor in Waco, Texas does.

In fact, instead of complaining about it, this pastor has taken the steps necessary to ban women from wearing weave in his church forever. It may seem like a stretch to tell his flock what not to wear in his church…afterall, isn’t the church a place where you should come as you are?

weave banned“Come as you are” is exactly where Pastor A.J. Aamir of Resurrecting Faith is coming from. He wants the women in his church to embrace this philosophy and come as they are, natural hair with no weave in it. In fact, he took the major step to ban weaves all together and is stirring up a bit of controversy in the wake of his decision.

[ADSENSE2]

Speaking on AmericanPreacher.com he talked about weaves being unacceptable to the Lord. He says it allows women to create a false image of themselves and is a representatino of a woman with low self-esteem trying to be someone they are not. (This made us wonder if certain make-ups or clothes will be banned next as they give off an appearance of something other than one isn’t.)

Aamir says he wants everyone in the church to focus on developing their minds, not their appearance.

“Long hair don’t care. What kind of mess is that? I don’t want my members so focused on what’s on their heads and not IN their heads” he said.

“I lead a church where our members are struggling financially. I mean really struggling. “Yet, a 26 year old mother in my church has a $300 weave on her head. NO. I will not be quiet about this.”

When he talks about the cost of weave being hundreds of dollars and financially struggling women are coming into his church everyday wearing them, it has to be frustrating. And if a Pastor is suppose to shepperd his flock to do what is best for them, then helping or forcing them to make smarter financial decisions seems like it is well inside of his duties.

However, I suspect there will be some major push back against this decision to ban hair weave from the church.

SOUND OFF: Do you think the Pastor is making the right decision to ban hair weave from his church?
