Tearful Young Girl Tells Charlotte City Council “We Shouldn’t Have To Feel Like This”

We have been talking about the injustice system for several years. We are tired of talking about racial profiling and blatant disregard for black lives by police. We’ve been talking this same talk for far too long. This story sounds a lot different coming from child. A child who said it scares her to know her mother or father may not make it home after a simple traffic.

This child, Zianna Oliphant, spoke at a City Council meeting in Charlotte with a heart full of emotion and eyes filled with tears. She doesn’t know which officers to trust, she doesn’t know which officers look at her and see nothing but a criminal, she, a child, does not feel safe leaving the house because the people who are paid to protect and serve shoot first and ask questions later.

In her eyes we are all the same, we are all people, human beings but for some reason people who look like her are criminalized before they open their mouths to speak.

As a child she can see the problem while many adults pretend to be blind.

We have to do better!
