The new year is almost here and it’s as good a time as any to make sure the year starts with pro-community action. Grass roots campaigns can and do shape the country and one initiative really can make an impact on the black community.
This action is the CashMob. The concept it simple, gather a group of friends and go spend your money somewhere. Obviously we are advocating you do this at local black owned business and really help give these extablishments a boost and the exposure to beat out the corporate chains suffocating black communities.
New Era Detroit just had their first CashMob. They took to Facebook on Xmas eve and wrote:
#NewEraDetroit Presents its First CashMob For Black Own Businesses This Sunday at 4pm at
Berts Marketplace
2727 Russell, Detroit, MI, 48226. Please join us let’s converse, drink and have fun. FYI: CashMob means to patronize a business with a whole group of people all at once. #CashMobSunday #BlackDollaSunday
Here is their awesome image! This is power! The black dollar really can make a change this year.
