Successful Experiment in Delware May Lead to More States Placing Restrictions on how Child Support can be Spent

by | Dec 5, 2016 | Opinion | 0 comments

In Delaware they experimented with a new way of dispersing child support which may become the norm in all 50 states. They distributed cards to child support recipients but the cards have buying restriction. Sometime you hear fathers or mothers complain about the way the money they are providing is being spent. Some recipients are upset by the restrictions others are not. This is actually a good idea because most of the things children need can be purchased with the card.

The card can be used for most costs associated with raising a child like diapers and wipes, school expenses and fees, and food. Rent expenses have been excluded from the list. I have heard men paying child support complain about women paying for their own personal wants like hair and nails. Not only are they cracking down on individuals that are not paying child support, are working toward regulating how those funds are spent. If this experiment proves to be successful a lot people may be in for a rude awakening.
