Do Not Believe The Hype About STEM Schools

by | Jun 1, 2014 | Blog | 0 comments

STEM, science, technology, engineering, math, is one of the new hot buttons being promoted as the savior of the under resourced urban educational system. As an eternal optimist, I wanted to believe that if schools adopted a STEM curriculum it would provide a stable career for our children.

Of course, our urban under resourced educational system needs to focus on science, technology, engineering and math. Our children need to learn as much as possible. They need to learn in order to compete in the world that is increasing turning against them.

When I was reading “I Got Schooled,” by M. Night Shaylaman, he stated that America’s test scores in math would be superior like other countries were it not for the black kids.

I was so d****** mad I put his book down and did not return to reading it for several weeks. I was p***** because he stereotyped and categorized all African American students. O.k. after I considered what he said it was partially true.

Not all under resourced urban African American children score poorly in all subjects. There is a small number of white children that score poorly in urban under resourced schools also. But for the most part he was correct.

For example, every few years, children are administered national and international tests at specific grades in specific subjects. One test is referred to as the nation’s report card NAEP, or the National Assessment of Educational Progress.

NAEP really tells a dire tale of our urban under resourced schools. Our children’s test scores are always poor.

Most of the teachers and other staff take no responsibility for the poor scores. A major part of the problem a disconnection; from cause and effect.

Mr. Shalayman addressed a international test, PISA, Program for International Student Assessment. There are about 65 countries that sit for the PISA. The US ranked 27th in math and 17th in science in 2012.

Now, under resourced schools want to focus on STEM after half assed teaching those subjects for decades. The teachers did not know how to teach reading. All of a f****** sudden they what to know how to teach STEM courses.

Yeah, right.

I hope you are listening big. A lot of the STEM jobs are being off-shored. Thousands of engineers do not have jobs in America. The jobs have gone to India, China and other countries where the oligarchs can f*** over the people and bargain big time with the government.

They work with the government, like they do here to depress wages, screw over the environment, and control all the safety issues. You know how they are screwing Americans they are really screwing people in other countries.
Whoa!!!!!

According to The Forrester Report, 3.3 million computer jobs will be moved off shore. They are projecting a net loss of jobs in the next 20 years of 42-60 million. Damn did I say computer jobs. There goes STEM.

Imagine also, 75% of jobs requiring a higher skill level will be moved to where the oligarchs can exert more control. They are leaving America with a quickness.

The oligarchs are controlling the labor market on most of the continents. Where does that leave our children? How are they going to earn a living, in the service sector?

If someone is feeding you this line of bull s***, that STEM is the savior of the under resourced urban school districts after you tell, them in your mind, to kiss your a**. Give them the facts,

We have to think of a way to move our children forward and it ain’t STEM. STEM is not the panacea for under resourced urban schools.
