Serena Williams is a professional tennis player, former world number one,having won to herself seven grand slams over the past two decades. She is well known for her involvement in charity work and donations.
In the year 2010, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), she was involved in the UNICEF’s programme dabbed new schools for Asia aimed at assisting a high population of marginalised Indian children to get a formal education.
Serena first got involved with UNICEF in the year 2006 when she traveled to Ghana where she got actively involved in what is considered as the country’s largest health campaign.
During her visit to Africa, she formed part of the volunteer workers who were involved in the immunisation of children against life-threatening illness, distribution of free mosquito nets with the aim of controlling Malaria and demonstrating to the local communities on the proper usage of the mosquito nets.
Serena Williams also has a scholarship programme that is managed by her partners Beyond the Boroughs National (BTB) with the aim of assisting the less fortunate in the society. She has also been involved in various charity and donation works.

Serena Williams thus understands the suffering of the World and uses the rare opportunity given to her to reach out to the community.
