Big sister could not pull out the win against her younger sibling yesterday. Serena Williams beat her older sister in tennis at the US Open and is now just two victories away from completing the first in calendar Grand Slam since 1988 when Steffi Graf did it..

The youngest Williams sister won 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 in the U.S. Open quarterfinals Tuesday night in front of a celebrity-filled crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium. It was her 11th three-set victory at a major this year.
Serena improved to 9-5 against her sister in Grand Slam matches.

“Obviously we are very, very tough competitors on the court,” Serena said later, “but once the match is over, the second it’s done, you know, we’re sisters, we’re roommates, and we’re all that.”
Serena called their unique sibling rivalry “the greatest story in tennis,” and who would argue? A couple of kids taught by their dad on cement courts in Compton, California, making it all the way to the top.
