Sanaa Lathan’s New Show Is Racially Motivated & Will Focus On Police Killings | Are You Interested?

They say art imitates life. The timing of this television show is perfect with the rampant number of police killings happening in America these days. It’s an epidemic and maybe this show will continue the conversation on race and racism in American.

According to TheGrio, the show still doesn’t have a name at the moment, but will follow the “dangerous aftermath” of a police shooting where an African-American cop kills a white teenager in Tennessee.

Sanaa-LathanLathan’s character, who is investigating the case, will pair with a special prosecutor to ”navigate the media attention, public debate and the social unrest that comes with such a volatile case, as they seek justice before the divided town erupts in a race war.”

Wait, It’s a Black Cop Killing a White Teen?

The show is being produced by Fox, so we are not surprised to find out the reversal of the real life situations where black teens are being killed by white police officers. Apparently, the people at Fox didn’t feel the masses of white America would like to watch the aftermath of an angry black community fighting back against a white cop killing their teenager.

This reality is presented on the news in real life almost daily, therefore, isn’t needed in the show?

Nevertheless, the show will be able to bring up some interesting storylines we are dealing with in real life. And some feel despite the race reversals, the discussion over police brutality and how they are militarized in communities across the country, particularly black communities, will open some discussion.

I just hope we don’t hear the awful phrase “All Lives Matter” that utterly spits in the face of the Black Lives Matter Movement.

What are your thoughts on the new show and how do you feel about it being a black cop killing a white teen instead of the reality of what’s happening in our communities?
