Another slap in the face to the widow of Eric Gardner and the people of the black community happened today thanks to the President of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, Patrick Lynch.
He called the Grand Jury’s decision to not indict the police officer that killed Eric Gardner in what appears to be an illegal choke hold, courageous. In a statement released, they say the video “snippet” isn’t enough information to make an informed decision on the case and it should be thrown out.
According to Yahoo: In a defiant press conference, Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, called the grand jury’s decision not to indict officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner “courageous.”
“Not looking at just one snippet of a video that doesn’t tell a whole story but listening to every bit of testimony,” Lynch said.
He praised Pantaleo as a good man who is “literally an Eagle Scout.”
Lynch said that the loss of life is always a tragedy, but it is also a “tragedy” that a police officer who “went out to do a difficult job” has to live with this death.
Lynch criticized Mayor Bill de Blasio’s speech Wednesday for not telling people that they need to respect police officers and comply with their orders.
“We need to teach our children and everyone that you cannot resist arrest even if you believe the arrest was unjust,” he said.
De Blasio, Lynch said, threw police officers “under the bus” and needs to show his support for law enforcement.
“What we need is a mayor to stand up with and for us as well,” he said.
He blames the mayor, but defends the killer of Eric Gardner.
There is no wonder the black community are outraged over the police and judicial systems in this country.
