After Walmart’s sales records were passed that fateful weekend, Patti LaBelle’s Sweet Potato Pies were the stuff of legends. People ranted and raved over them from coast to coast, trying to find them at the local stores, but most were sold out.
LaBelle eventually took credit for the great sales success. She even threw a little shade at James Wright Chanel by not giving him any credit for the exposure due to his viral video. Many thought LaBelle was wrong for this and it seems she is making amends.
LaBelle finally admits Chanel played a major role in the success of her pies, something the rest of the world already knew. Most people didn’t even know Patti had pies until Chanel’s video stormed newsfeeds and timelines everywhere as he sings because the pies turn you into Patti LaBelle they are so good.
To take things a step further, LaBelle is inviting Chanel to her home to have Thanksgiving dinner together with a special guest, Quest Love.
“You give love to people who give you love,” Patti told FOX 29 Philadelphia’s Quincy Harris Tuesday morning. “And you know, I didn’t expect a viral video.”
On the menu for Thursday: Four fried turkeys, three big briskets, macaroni with lobster and shrimp, a plain macaroni and cheese for those with shellfish allergies, potato salad, 20 bunches of kale, four heads of cabbage, a green salad with arugula and cilantro, candied yams, peach cobbler, chocolate cake, leg of lamb, ribs, and of course her famous sweet potato pies.
