Oprah’s Movie “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” Is Finally Telling Lack’s Story!

On Saturday, April 22, at 8 p.m. EST. HBO will air “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”, a movie that finally tells the story of Henrietta Lacks, a poor tobacco farmer whose cells changed the medical field forever.

The movie stars Oprah Winfrey and Rose Byrne and tells the story written by journalist Rebecca Skloot, based on her investigation into how Henrietta’s cells were unknowing used to create the first “immortal” human cell line.

Her cells were harvested in 1951 and became known as HeLa. They changed medical research forever but Henrietta was never compensated. Some of her family are still looking for compensation.
