The Official Hip-Hop Museum, Coming to Harlem in 2018

by | Jun 13, 2017 | News | 0 comments

In the parks of the Bronx local kids honed the craft we now know as Hip Hop and New York City birthed one of the most influential and important musical styles of all of music history.

And that deserves a museum, right! And it seems if all goes well, that Harlem will be the home of the museum that plans to be 10 stories high and chart the movement from it’s early days to today.

Twenty stories tells you how massive this thing is going to be. There are two main phases to this project: phase one will be complete by 2018. That phase will include a ground floor café, gallery, visitors bureau, and gift store and then a museum on the second floor, which will include an event space and a multi-media studio for film and television.

The second phase is when things get ambitious: that phase will include a museum, hotel, a mall, arcade, sports bar, and a concert lounge. There is no timetable for when the second phase of the project will be completed.

It will be interesting to see how Harlem residents feel about this project.
