NY Times is Sick of the Republicans: “An inept White House Led by a Celebrity Apprentice”

Even though the fanfare surrounding Donald Trump’s election has died down, criticism of Trump in the media has not. Trump’s tiff with the media seems edgier than ever, with the New York Times and Trump himself exchanging barbs over the weekend. The New York Times calls Trump’s White House “inept.” They go on to say that the Trump administration is “toxic. They even criticize the spelling errors in his press releases, which they say are as common as “tantrums” within the White House’s leadership.

For his part, Trump isn’t taking the criticism lying down. He called the press “dishonest people” during a lengthy press conference on Thursday, February 16. He has also used his Twitter account to write that the New York Times is failing and that the stories they write about President Trump are largely fiction. In another incident, also on Twitter, he called the New York Times wrong and dishonest.

It remains to be seen if the New York Times’ disapproval will have any effect on Trump’s approval ratings, especially outside of the Beltway. According to Real Clear Politics, Trump’s approval ratings have slid since his inauguration. On Sunday, February 19, a Gallup poll showed the President having a 55 percent disapproval rating, which is one of his highest disapproval ratings since taking office.
