When news reporters become the live coverage

San Antonio – Telemundo news reporter Jorge Enrique DeSantiago got the surprise of his life when, while taping the confession of a confessed murderer, Charles Hall, Hall opened fire on the news crew itself, taking a security guard and the reporter totally by surprise and causing a camera specialist, Mayde Gomez, to jump a nearby fence to escape the gunfire.

Though Hall’s reasoning for his actions remain a mystery, this is not the first time (nor will it be the last) that an accused person the police were looking for has turned himself in to a live news crew during on-location filming.

In 2011, accused/confessed killer Jamie Hood (Georgia) demanded that a live news crew be there to witness his surrender. He had killed a police officer and injured another and feared being killed himself.
