New insight to the shooting and killing by Ferguson, MO police officer, Darren Wilson, of unarmed, black boy Michael Brown was released today. A man claiming to have captured audio of the incident came forth with the evidence and has spoken with the FBI in regards to the recording.
The attorney of the man is Lopa Blumenthal and she spoke to CNN’s Don Lemon saying, “I was very concerned about that pause … because it’s not just the number of gunshots, it’s how they’re fired. And that has a huge relevance on how this case might finally end up.”
Reports are out saying Brown was shot 6 times by Darren Wilson, but the number of shots fired has never been released by the Ferguson police department. The incomplete police report doesn’t explain any further details either, so if this audio is able to be verified by the FBI as authentic, then it can shed some much needed light on what happened that fateful day.
In the audio recording, you can here a fast series of shots, a pause, then another rapid succession of shots again. Much speculation can be made as to why, but it is clear there were at least 10 to 11 shots fired at and into Mr. Brown.
The man that came forward with the recording asked his identity not be revealed. He was on a video chat service with a friend when the recording and shots in the background were fired.
You can hear him talking as the incident unfolds outside the residence.
The recording has not been independently verified by CNN, who released their audio. We will continue to follow the developments of this story and keep you posted.
