Philadelphia born and raised, 44 year old Muhammad Ali, the son of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, was detained by immigration at a Florida airport according to reports from his lawyer.

He was traveling with his mother Khalilah Camacho-Ali, Ali’s second wife.

They were arriving to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on February 7 from Jamaica where Ali was taken by immigration staff and grilled with the question Where did you get your name from?” and “Are you Muslim?”, for over two hours!

The questioning reportedly happened after he had acknowledged he was Muslim. Ali was born in USA and always lived in USA and is a full citizen.

The US Customs and Border Protection have reportedly said that it “cannot discuss individual travellers; however, all international travellers arriving in the US are subject to CBP inspection”.
