This story rings like music to my ears because it is something i’ve been saying since joining the Urban Intellectuals platform.

The media is doing what it always has, build their ratings, sensationalize the story, ignore the main issues and insert propaganda where it sees fit.

It’s it about time we turn our backs on the mainstream media outlets? Morgan Freeman seems to think so and I agree with him 100%.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Freeman said, “Look at MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN. Go between those three. There’s a take, there’s a take, and there’s a take.

It’s just commentary. CNN wants to be pure news, but the others are just commentary. They’re just commenting on things.”

Essentially, he is saying the mainstream media pretends to be a hardcore news coverage outlet, but is just a bunch of people with opinions spraying them on whomever will listen and are not interested in the real story, but sensationalized ratings for their station.

Baltimore Has Been Suffering

Freeman eludes to the fact that Baltimore has been suffering for decades, but the only time the mainstream media shows up is when people are setting things on fire.

“People are saying, ‘You were not all there when we were just talking and trying to make a point, but if we set something on fire, all of a sudden you’re all here.”

He continued, “The other thing is that technology lets us see behind the scenes a little bit better[…]Police have a standard reaction to shooting somebody. I fear for my life and I fear for my safety.

Now, at least you can see, ‘Hey, his hands were up in the air! What part of your safety were you afraid of? The guy was running away, what part of your safety was in danger?’ There was one situation I saw where a cop told a guy to get out of the car, said, ‘Show me your driver’s license,’ and the guy reached back into the car and the cop shot him!”

We have been under attack and it is time to shut out the “mainstream” media with their false narratives, lies, and propaganda, but Freeman ends the interview the best way possible on the matter of the mainstream media.

“Anyway, off the media,” he says, waving his hands in the air. “F-ck the media.”
