Moonlight’s Mahershala Ali Is The First Muslim Actor To Win An Oscar!

“I want to thank my teachers, my professors,”

“One thing they consistently told me … was that it wasn’t about you. It’s not about you, it’s about these characters, you are a servant. You’re in service to these stories and these characters.”

These were words from Mahershala Ali as he accepted the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Oscar during the 89th Academy Awards.

He also gave thanks to his wife, who birthed his daughter just 4 days ago saying:

“I want to thank her for being such a soldier through this process, and carrying me through it all,”

Apart from putting in a stunning performance he also achieved another milestone. He is the first every Muslim to win an Oscar, in an age when it seems the President is waging a war against Muslims!
