Breaking overnight, we learned that the McKinney, Texas police officer that brutally responded to a pool in the city has resigned his post as a police officer on the force. Cpl. Eric Casebolt was the officer caught on video brutally attacking a 14 year old girl at a pool party and pulling his service weapon on other black teens in the area.

Casebolt’s lawyer informed the media of his clients decision to step down from the police force, but many in the black community don’t feel this is enough. This man should be charged and prosecuted for his crimes against the community. We don’t really care if he has a badge on or not. He clearly wasn’t there to serve and protect, but to attempt to harm young, unarmed, black people.

McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley spoke to the media at a news conference Tuesday evening and said the actions of Casebolt were “indefensible”, as most of already realized.

“He came into the call out of control and as the video shows was out of control during the incident.” Conley said. “I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”

The video of the Friday incident involving Casebolt at a McKinney neighborhood pool went viral and had initially landed Casebolt on administrative leave while police officials conduct an investigation.

Casebolt was seen pulling Dajerria Becton to the ground and pinning her with his knees while she cried out. He also pulled out his gun and pointed it at other teens and briefly ran after them before being stopped by two fellow McKinney police officers.

Throughout the video Casebolt is heard repeatedly cursing.

“Our policies, our training, our practice do not support his actions,” Conley said.

Mayor Brian Loughmiller said Tuesday during the press conference that the “incident is not indicative of McKinney as a whole.”

PROSECUTION, NOT RETIREMENT!

It is great the disturbed little boy carrying a badge will be removed from the police force, but this doesn’t go far enough. Many in the black community feel it is necessary to prosecute the former officer for his actions to show the rest of the police in the country that you simply cannot mistreat and brutalize people of color.

Just because no one died this time at the hands of a police officer doesn’t mean the rights of the teens involved were not violated by this officer. He was clearly out of line as stated by the McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley, therefore, we are expecting a trial, prosecution and conviction of former officer Casebolt.

If they have already admitted that he was out of line, then formal charges should be right around the corner…
