Maya Angelou passed away in 2014 and left behind her a mourning that will forever live in the hearts of many of us. A beautiful wonderful woman and important activist.

Angelou wrote some amazing pieces of work and her mind was a one of a kind.

At 7 years old she was raped by someone known to the family. He went to prison but the night he got out was apparently kicked to death.

A 7 year old Angelou used the logic of a kid to assume she caused the death of the man and did not speak for 5 years. It was during this time she says she read every book she could lay her hands on. A tragic childhood story but one that Angelou says came out good in the end when she decided to talk again!
