A prominent Atlanta attorney, a Senior Partner in a law firm, is not the kind of person you’d be expecting to be acting completely irrational. Surely a lawyer wouldn’t shoot his wife in the back and then claim that it was over fear of the black lives matter protest? That would be absolutely ridiculous!
But that has happened! Tex McIver, who is a senior partner at at Fisher and Phillips was in the backseat of his Ford Expedition, he shot his wife, Diane, in the back as she sat in the front passenger seat. They were being driven from their country home to their residence in Atlanta’s Buckhead area.
Bill Crane, a spokesperson for McIver, said that the car got stuck in traffic downtown and that:
McIver was aware there had been Black Lives Matter protests at Lenox Square and downtown over the weekend, Crane said, and he was worried about unrest.
The driver took a wrong turn off Edgewood Avenue and drove down unfamiliar downtown streets—which intensified McIver’s concerns, Crane said. McIver spotted people whom he perceived as threatening, Crane said, and, fearing a carjacking, he asked his wife for a gun that he kept in the console between the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
McIver supposedly took the gun and put it into his lap, because he had heard about Black Lives Matter protests happening in the area and was scared! He says he fell asleep, they hit a bump and he accidentally discharged the gun.
They drove his wife, who was shot and bleeding, to a further away hospital than they should have where she later died during surgery.
The police also have been very quiet over the case, maybe because of the prominence of the people involved in this case.
The whole thing is ridiculous and makes no sense!
