Since the inception of the band, The Beatles have created quite a niche for themselves, they have enthralled their die-hard fans.
A document surfaced a few years ago that portrays them in an even finer light. They are shown rejecting a contract providing unwarranted impetus to racial segregation.
The document showcases the refusal by the band to playing in front of a racially segregated audience and their affinity towards the minority just doesn’t end there. They were willing to forfeit their signing money with an added fine. John Lennon had this to say, “We don’t play for a segregated audience, never have never will!”
This particular contract from 1965, penned during the Beatles third tour of the US, was recently put up for auction after its copy was retained by a records shop. This particular document was said to have been, “A pleasant Surprise” by Sir Paul McCartney. This valuable document was sold for a pretty penny.
This transgression by the Beatles is a reason to be proud.
