Did You Know? 300 Union Plumbers Took To Flint And Installed Water Filters FOR FREE Over The Weekend!

An amazing act of people doing things where the authorities should have happened this past weekend as hundreds of plumbers went door-to-door in Flint to make sure residents had a water filter installed. Where the filter couldn’t fit their old faucets they even put in new faucets! Not a penny was exchanged for the work!

So how did this awesome act of kindness happen?

The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry, known as the United Association, gathered their members and took them to Flint. They managed to bring in 300 volunteers (some reports even say 400).

Plumbing Manufacturers International also donated the fictures needed for many homes that needed upgrading to take the filter systems.

Unfortunately many Flint residents still have a problem. The filters supplied by the State only filter safely 150 parts per billion of lead. However some homes are affected with over 4000 parts per billion of lead.

Of course the filters are still advised to be used and will be good in many cases but the issue is far from solved.

The Flint story is sad on every level and affecting a large community of African Americans and other minorities it’s left many wondering just how much government cares for those who are not the majority and what part racism played in the inaction of state and federal officials.
