New York Republican Senate candidate Jon Girodes was either really really stupid and uninformed or just plain racist, or most likely, a combination of both.

Well… Karma comes in some strange ways, Girodes has now been arrested! It’s not to do with his racist campaign attempts, he has been arrested for at least nine counts of grand larceny according to NBC.

So what exactly is he accused of doing?

Well, apparently he allegedly ran a scam by listing his upmarket Hell’s kitchen apartment online. He collected a year’s rent upfront from the deposits. Then he backed out and kept the cash…. allegedly.

That’s around $50k from 10 people in total.

Attorney Pierre Gooding is representing the victims and he told NBC 4 New York:

“The scam is simple: He posts on Craigslist under his name or assumed name saying he’s posting an apartment that’s affordable because that’s his initiative as a public officer,

“The person comes over, he shows them the amenities, wines them and dines them and then takes their money. And then he comes up with various reasons why he won’t return that money.

“It’s the same apartment every single time, the same sort of lease structure,

“It’s very obvious that there’s no intent to ever rent out this apartment.”

Girodes denies the claims and says he was the victim, he said

“I was not involved in any scam. I am involved in it as of the people that are trying to scam me,

“I’m the biggest victim ever.”

….. Are we allowed to laugh? Let’s hope the victims get the money back if this alleged crime is true. If by any chance it isn’t, well the hassle it’s caused him is just karma for his racist backside!
